Overview
XC-MCP is an MCP server for Xcode and iOS Simulator work, built around the problem that Xcode tooling produces far more output than an agent's context window can hold. Large outputs come back as a summary plus an ID, with full detail available on request. UI automation reads the accessibility tree before falling back to screenshots.
Features
- 77 tools across building and testing, simulators, apps and UI automation
- Summaries first, with full logs fetched only when needed
- Accessibility tree before screenshots for cheaper UI automation
- Tools declare their risk so clients can ask before destructive actions such as erasing a simulator
- --mini and --build-only flags to cut down tool descriptions
- idb-doctor to diagnose UI automation problems
Requirements
- macOS 13 or later
- Node.js 20 or later
- Xcode and Command Line Tools 15 or later (26 or later for iOS 26/27 simulators)
- idb CLI and companion 1.5.1 or later for UI automation
Install
Claude Code
claude mcp add xc-mcp -- npx -y xc-mcpCodex CLI
codex mcp add xc-mcp -- npx -y xc-mcpInstall idb for UI automation
xcode-select --install brew tap facebook/fb brew install facebook/fb/idb-companion facebook/fb/idb-cli
Example
Ask your agent to build and run your app; it gets a short build summary and can drill into the full log only if something fails.
