Overview
@ioloro/ios-testing is a three-part package for iOS and macOS test work in Claude Code: a skill, a Swift CLI and an optional hook. The skill teaches Claude when to use Swift Testing, XCTest, XCUITest and Instruments trace analysis, the CLI runs the tests, and the hook stops Claude using raw commands instead. It addresses models that default to XCTest or get Apple's testing APIs wrong.
Features
- Uses Swift Testing by default for new unit and integration tests
- XCTest for performance benchmarks and energy measurement
- XCUITest for UI automation, accessibility audits, hitch testing and screenshots
- Exports Instruments .trace files to JSON for analysis
- iostesting CLI with 13 commands and an app registry with short IDs
- Optional PreToolUse hook that blocks raw xcodebuild test and simctl calls
Requirements
- Claude Code
- Swift 6 to build the CLI (the project says it's tested on Swift 6.3 and Xcode 26.4)
- npm for the skill install
Install
Install the skill
npm install -g @ioloro/ios-testingBuild the CLI, put it on your PATH and run setup
cd cli swift build -c release iostesting setupOptionally add the hook to ~/.claude/settings.json
Example
Ask Claude: "Write tests for my UserService class" or "Analyze this .trace file and tell me why the app is slow".
